Clara Sativa is a freelance filmmaker, journalist and Human Rights activist born in Barcelona and focusing on non violent social movements, drug policy reform, gender, migrations and nature.

She has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at University Complutense of Madrid, a Master in Filmmaking at University of East London and a diploma in Video-Journalism on Social Movements at School of Authentic Journalism in Tepoztlán, México.

Clara is a creative, sensitive and passionate filmmaker with a wide range of experience in film, video and TV from concept to creation. She has worked at all production levels of industry and has an in-depth understanding of the needs of a production crew.

She co-directed a production company in Barcelona for 8 years, coordinating an online television as a main project while working also as a correspondent for CNN Cannabis News Network and Revista Cáñamo among other media. She is specialized in cannabis and drug policy, and has a strong passion for creating short films, documentaries and audiovisual projects related to social movements and Human Rights.

Co-founder of Marihuana Television, Mujeres Cannábicas and REMA (Red Estatal de Mujeres Antiprohibicionistas), she has been reporting and raising awareness about the cannabis world and the war on drugs from a gender perspective during 10 years. She is co-creator and editor of the Documentary CANNÁBICAS, the first collective documentary of cannabis women of the world, which has been screened at International festivals and awarded as 'Best documentary' at FEICA Festival Internacional de Cine Cannábico de México. 

She has been recently working in the film industry in London doing fiction short films, documentaries, music videos, ads and social media content. Her favourite area is the camera department, but she also gained experience as Assistant Director and self-produced several short docs and films as an independent director and filmmaker.

Clara's richness is her diverse and multidisciplinar profile. A decade of professional background has given her a fundamental understanding of how to tell stories and communicate ideas with empathy, compassion, diversity and love as main values.
